The Custody Code

'The Custody Code (clip)', 2019

~

Forestry England commissioned The Custody Code to celebrate 100 years of forestry. Made over the course of a year, the films follow the life cycle of timber production from seed to sawmill. The unique two-screen film installation provides an intimate and immersive experience for the viewer. The split screen films are housed within a sustainably sourced solar powered timber structure, which vibrates with voices of the workers and sounds of industrial forestry. Importantly, The Custody Code tells the story of forestry from the unique perspective of people who work in the industry. Set deep within the forest, the installation was seen at Alice Holt, Hampshire, in the summer of 2019 and Kielder Forest, Hexham, in autumn 2019.
